RALEIGH, N.C. — Voters across Raleigh and the rest of Wake County can cast midterm ballots now that in-person early voting opened Thursday.
Roughly 370 locations are taking ballots statewide between Oct. 15 and Oct. 31, with Election Day following on Nov. 3. During the early window, residents may use any site inside their home county rather than waiting for a single precinct. On Nov. 3 itself, voting rooms stay open from half past six in the morning until half past seven at night.
Wake County is running 18 early spots. North Raleigh traffic can head to Abbott’s Creek Community Center, while southeast neighborhoods often use Chavis Community Center. Apex Community Center covers western Wake, and Garner voters can stop at the Avery Street Recreation Center. Many of those rooms post Saturday shifts from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Oct. 17 and Oct. 24. Hours still vary by county, and several boards dropped Sunday voting this cycle.
Workers ask voters to carry an accepted photo ID such as a North Carolina driver license or a U.S. passport. Same-day registration remains open in the early window for eligible people who prove a current address and have lived in the county at least 30 days before Election Day. Anyone who forgets an ID may leave a provisional ballot and fix it by noon Nov. 10.
Elsewhere in the Triangle, campus clubs and civic groups marked opening day with turnout walks aimed at younger voters and local races beside federal contests. Clerks say the first and final days of the early period usually draw the longest lines around Raleigh polling rooms.
