VANCOUVER, British Columbia — The Carolina Hurricanes take the ice against the Vancouver Canucks on Tuesday night looking to start a new run after their seven-game winning streak came to an end over the weekend.
Puck drop is set for 10 p.m. Eastern. The team flew to Vancouver right after Sunday night game in Calgary and had Monday off before the matchup.
Carolina sits at 7-2-1 after a 3-2 loss to the Flames at Scotiabank Saddledome, its first defeat since Oct. 2. The run that ended included a franchise-record five straight road wins. Yegor Sharangovich broke a 2-2 tie with 4:08 left in regulation, one-timing a pass from Morgan Frost.
Carolina got its goals from Jesperi Kotkaniemi and Jalen Chatfield, with Chatfield tying the game with three seconds left in the second period. Kotkaniemi has now scored in consecutive games for the first time since January 2025. Brandon Bussi stopped 31 of 34 shots, the first 30-save game by a Carolina goalie this season.
Injuries are piling up. Forward Mark Jankowski, who had scored in six straight games, missed Sunday with a lower-body injury and was sent home to be examined. Coach Rod Brind’Amour told reporters after the game that the team is giving up too much and has lost three or four penalty killers, with players skating out of position.
Sebastian Aho picked up his eighth assist of the season in Calgary. That point tied him with Kevin Dineen for third in franchise history in points on game-tying goals, behind Ron Francis and Eric Staal.
After Vancouver, the Hurricanes next play at home on Oct. 27 against Boston.
