CONWAY, S.C. — Appalachian State will try to get back on track Friday night when the Mountaineers travel to Coastal Carolina for a Sun Belt Conference matchup at Benton Field at Brooks Stadium, Conway, S.C.
App State (3-2, 0-1 Sun Belt) has dropped two consecutive games after opening the season with three straight victories. Coastal Carolina (2-4, 1-1), meanwhile, snapped a three-game losing streak with a 27-21 victory over Marshall last weekend.
The date is Friday, Oct. 16, 2026, at 8:00 p.m. ET in Conway, SC. Official App State listings show the Mountaineers at Coastal Carolina that night for a conference road game after last weeks Homecoming setback.
The Mountaineers are slight favorites. Spread: Appalachian State -1.5 with an Over/Under Total: 50.5 points. Coastal Carolina has won four consecutive meetings and five of the last six after Appalachian State dominated early in the rivalry.
Coastal Carolina quarterback Deuce Bailey leads the Sun Belt with 13 touchdown passes and has thrown for 1,340 yards through six games. Appalachian State allows just 19.8 points per contest and has intercepted eight passes this season.
App State is 3-2 overall and fell at home to Old Dominion in a Homecoming result on Oct. 10 after a 31-41 loss at NC State. A win Friday would halt the skid before a Thursday night home date against James Madison on Oct. 22 at Kidd Brewer Stadium in Boone, giving the Mountaineers another Sun Belt test after the Coastal Carolina trip and a chance to reset the conference standings through the rest of this month ahead.
