Raleigh, N.C. — Gio Lopez threw for three touchdowns and ran for another in Wake Forest’s 38-14 win over N.C. State on Saturday in Raleigh, flipping a Big Four rivalry after a quiet Wolfpack second half.
Lopez was 26-for-33 with 303 yards in the air as the Demon Deacons won their third game in a row. N.C. State led 14-10 at halftime before Wake Forest outscored the Wolfpack 28-0 in the second half.
Jack Foley racked up 156 receiving yards on eight catches and Carlos Hernandez had 117 receiving yards on 12 receptions, with each making a touchdown catch in the third quarter as the margin grew.
N.C. State quarterback CJ Bailey was 28-for-40 for 241 yards, with a costly first-quarter fumble. The Wolfpack offense generated only 15 yards on the ground and managed only six second-half first downs while Wake Forest compiled most of its yardage after halftime.
