He grew up on Fillmore Street and attended Raleigh High School, now known as Needham Broughton High School, from which he graduated in the Class of 1958. His pursuit of education continued at Wake Forest University, where he earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in 1962.

Military Service and Career

Following his college years, Bryant joined the United States Coast Guard in 1962. His service included periods of active duty and reserve status, though he personally did not identify as a veteran. His professional life was primarily centered around sales, where he used his business acumen to contribute to various companies’ growth. He was a founding partner of Alliance Display and Packaging, a manufacturing business that thrived under his leadership.

Family and Personal Life

In 1966, Bryant married Sandi Keeys Garner, whom he affectionately called his “one and only.” Their partnership lasted over sixty years, sharing a deep bond and mutual devotion. The couple was blessed with two children: Grey Garner and Martha Long. Bryant was a dedicated father, often spending quality time with his family and participating in various activities together.

He is survived by his wife, Sandi; son Grey Garner and his wife, Vanessa, of Nashville, TN; daughter Martha Long and her husband, Chuck, of Apex, NC; and four grandchildren: Preston Long, Kaitlyn Long, Will Garner, and Hattie Grey Garner.

A reception to celebrate Bryant’s life will be held on November 8, 2025, at Salem Baptist Church in Apex, NC. The family has requested that instead of flowers, donations be made to a charity of one’s choice.
