RALEIGH, N.C. — Pyotr Kochetkov is still perfect. The Carolina Hurricanes goalie turned aside all 26 shots he faced Sunday at Lenovo Center in Raleigh, and Carolina buried the Winnipeg Jets 7-0 for its fourth win in a row.

The shutout made Kochetkov 10-0-0 this season. Only two other goalies in league history have opened a season with 10 straight wins: Carey Price for Montreal in 2016-17 and Jack Campbell, who won 11 straight for Toronto in 2020-21. No goalie in Hurricanes history had ever won 10 starts in a row at any point in a season.

It was his second shutout this season and the 13th of his career, which ties Mike Liut for third on the franchise list behind Cam Ward and Arturs Irbe.

Defenseman Sean Walker opened the scoring short-handed 5:16 into the first period and later added a second goal. Carolina then broke the game open in the middle period, scoring four times before the 10-minute mark. Juuso Valimaki scored from the blue line, Sebastian Aho converted on the power play 24 seconds later, Walker struck again and Logan Stankoven made it 5-0 at 9:09. Winnipeg had five shots on goal at that point.

Mark Jankowski and Jesperi Kotkaniemi added third-period goals. Stankoven finished with a goal and two assists and became the first Hurricane to reach 10 goals this season.

Winnipeg goalie Stuart Skinner made 12 saves before he was pulled after the fifth goal, and Clay Stevenson stopped 13 shots the rest of the way. The Jets have now lost nine straight.

The Hurricanes play next at Nashville on Tuesday night.
