RALEIGH, N.C. — Storm surveys by the National Weather Service have found at least high-end EF-1 tornado damage in the Perry Creek area and the Neuse Crossing neighborhood of Wake County near Raleigh, N.C., after Sunday’s severe weather outbreak.

The storms swept through the Triangle on Sunday as the remnants of Hurricane Isaias moved across central North Carolina. Tornado warnings for Wake, Durham and 17 other counties expired by mid-afternoon, and by 2:30 p.m. the sun was shining in Raleigh with temperatures near 78 degrees. In all, there were 15 tornado warnings across the central North Carolina forecast area, which covers 31 counties.

As of Monday, preliminary ratings showed multiple tornadoes in the region. Surveyors found at least EF-1 damage at Jordan Lake near the Beaver Creek Fishing Pier in Chatham County, estimated high-end EF-0 damage in Clayton in Johnston County, and an EF-0 tornado in Harrells in Sampson County with winds of 75 to 80 mph.

Survey teams were also looking at preliminary tornado damage near Raleigh-Durham International Airport and southwest of Rolesville. Final survey results are pending, and the Weather Service plans additional surveys on Tuesday and Wednesday.

No injuries were reported in the state on Sunday. About 3,000 power outages were reported as of 3 p.m. that day, with the highest totals in Cumberland County.

The severe weather threat is not expected to return this week. Dry conditions are in the forecast Monday through Saturday, with Wednesday in Raleigh expected to reach a high of 89 degrees under sunny skies.
